Dr. Huajian Yao received his B.S. degree in 2001 and M.S. degree in 2004 in geophysics at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). In 2009 he received his PhD in geophysics at MIT. Then he worked in the Scripps Institution of Oceanography UCSD as a postdoctoral Green Scholar in 2010-2012. In 2012 he joined the School of Earth and Space Sciences, USTC as a professor of geophysics through the Recruitment Program of Global Youth Experts by the Chinese government. He has published more than 50 research papers in the area of fundamental and applied seismology or geophysics with over 1000 citations. His main research interests include seismic imaging using earthquake waveforms and ambient noise, lithospheric structure and deformation, earthquake rupture processes, array analysis, and geophysical inversion methods. He is now an associate editor of Seismological Research Letter and editorial board member of Science China – Earth Sciences and Earthquake Science.
